Specialized Program Offerings

Advanced Academics Program

Our Advanced Academic Program combines the strengths of the CambridgeGEARS and GEM programs to offer a dynamic and enriching academic experience.

  • Through the internationally recognized Cambridge curriculum, students engage in rigorous coursework that promotes critical thinking, global awareness, and academic excellence.
  • The GEARS and GEM components—Gifted Education and Academic Resource Services and Gifted Education in Mathematics—provide targeted support and enrichment for gifted learners, fostering creativity, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Our programs challenge students to reach their full potential and prepare them for advanced academic opportunities and lifelong success.


Band Beginning (All): Students will choose instruments with the aid of the band director at the beginning of the year. They will be required to participate in school concerts/events/competitions both during the school day and after school.


Band Advanced (All): Students who have taken Band Beginning and want to continue in Band. They will be required to participate in school concerts/events/competitions both during the school day and after school.


Coding Fundamentals (7th & 8th): This course is to introduce the student to computer science, problem solving, programming, and data while inspiring students to build their own websites & apps.


Digital Discoveries (All): For this second year of coding, students must have taken Coding Fundamentals.


Dual Language (All): Empowering through bilingual education.  Our Dual Language program fosters academic excellence, cultural appreciation, and multilingual proficiency.


Exploring Communication Technology (8th): This full year course focuses on the design principals behind print publication as students will develop the yearbook.  Students will also participate in learning the various aspects of visual media production to develop, record, edit and broadcast daily student news and announcements.


Robotics / STEM (7th & 8th): This full-year course focuses on robotics and the engineering process. Students will design, build, and program robots which will allow them to experience the engineering process first-hand.


Debate 1 LH (8th only): Students will develop an understanding of each of the ten types of Debate by preparing for mock competitions. They will be required to compete in Debate competitions. High School Credit course.


Speech/Debate (6th & 7th): Students will develop an understanding of each of the ten types of Debate by preparing for mock competitions. They may attend competitions but are not required to do so.


VE Program

Our VE (Varying Exceptionalities) program is designed to provide Education to students with diverse learning needs and challenges, taught in General Education Standards through:

  •  direct specialized instruction in Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, Science
  •  direct specialized instruction in behavior and social skills
  •  paraprofessional assistance for most of the academic time,
  •  unique accommodations,
  •  support facilitation services for independent and self-advocacy skills development,
  •  small group classes (8-15)
  •  participation in a variety of Electives classes (based on student’s interest), with paraprofessional support.

Dual certified teachers in General Education Academic Areas and Exceptional Student Education plan activities and provide instruction that promote academic, social, and emotional growth.

We offer a combination of specialized strategies, modified curriculum and inclusive practices for 6, 7, and 8 grade levels. We are the promotors of Multiple Intelligences Theory approach. Our educators differentiate instruction based on our students learning style (visual, tactile, auditory, and other senses) and believe that our students can reach the fullest potential in our program, while developing creativity, confidence, and independence… the pathway for success.


SVE Program

Our SVE (Specific Varied Exceptionalities) program is designed to provide education to students with severe and profound disabilities and taught in Access Points Standards.

Our Exceptional Student Education certified teachers promote development of academic, social, emotional, communication, and independent skills through:

  • Small pupil to teacher ratio
  • Paraprofessional continuous support
  • Embedded Assistive technology
  • Direct specialized instruction in all academic areas, behavior and independent skills
  • Differentiated instruction
  • Unique approach and curriculum
  • Positive Behavior interventions
  • Life skills development activities
  • Unique accommodation and support

Our program is individualized and designed to help all our challenging and challenged students accomplish their unique goals, based on their abilities, strengths, needs, wants, and interests.


Physical Education (All): Students will be provided with a foundation of knowledge, skills, and values necessary for the development of a physically active lifestyle through fitness activities and team sports.


Spanish 1 & 2 (7th & 8th Only): The student will engage in speaking, reading, listening, and writing activities to gain proficiency in the Spanish language. This is a High School Credit course.
